Waste Plan: Consultation on Proposed Minor Changes

The event is not currently available for consultation.

The ten Local Planning Authorities in Greater Manchester are working together to produce a Joint Waste Development Plan Document (known as the Waste Plan).  The Waste Plan includes detailed development control policies and identifies sites/areas for the range of waste management facilities required up until 2028. The Plan will form an integral part of each authority's Local Development Framework.

In February 2011, the Waste Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination.  During the examination hearing sessions at the end of June, a number of proposed minor changes to the Submitted Waste Plan were proposed.  The Planning Inspector, Mr Andrew Mead, appointed to examine the soundness of the submitted Waste Plan by the Secretary of State, has requested that these proposed minor changes be publicised.

Consultation on the proposed minor changes to the Waste Plan will run for a six week period from Friday 22nd July to Friday 2nd September 2011.  Preparation of the Waste Plan has already been through a number of stages during which extensive consultation has taken place, indeed the Waste Plan was published in November 2010 and representations on soundness and legal compliance were received and considered.  At this stage, the intention of issuing an amended version of the Waste Plan is to allow for representations to be made in connection with issues of soundness (i.e. whether the Waste Plan is justified, whether it is effective and whether it is consistent with national policy) and legal compliance in relation to the proposed minor changes only.
